Under the updated Municipal Government Act, municipalities sharing a border must establish Intermunicipal Collaboration Frameworks (ICFs) to promote efficient, cost-effective service delivery through cooperation.
ICFs aim to:
- Enable integrated planning, funding, and delivery of intermunicipal services.
- Allocate resources efficiently for local services.
- Ensure fair municipal contributions to shared services benefiting residents.
